MAHATMA GANDHI’S VIEWS ON LIFELONG EDUCATION AND THEIR RELEVANCE IN MODERN CONDITIONS
Abstract: This article analyzes Mahatma Gandhi’s concept of lifelong education through the lens of Nai Talim, an educational philosophy that emphasizes the holistic development of the human being across three dimensions: intellectual, moral, and physical (labor). On this basis, the paper elucidates core components such as: education as more than mere literacy, the integration of learning with labor and daily life, and the four-stage structure of lifelong education. Furthermore, the article evaluates the contemporary significance of this thought in the era of digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, particularly in fostering autonomy, sustainable development, addressing unemployment, and promoting moral education. Ultimately, the study reaffirms the enduring value of Gandhian educational philosophy as a humanistic orientation for contemporary education.
